Guide us waking, O Lord, and guard us sleeping
That awake we may watch with Christ
and Asleep we may rest in peace
- from the Book of Common Prayer
A friend of my husband’s (can’t remember which one) told him once that praying is like getting dressed – it’s best not to leave the house without doing it.

Since I have started praying the Daily Office regularly, I have felt much more prepared to deal with whatever the day throws at me. There’s a pattern to the praying the office that leads me from what I call grind time into God’s time.
The power of prayer is more apparent when I forget to do it. When I don’t pray, I forget that God makes all things work.
Not me.
The Northern District in our Conference is teaming up with the Ohio Valley District (from The East Ohio Annual Conference) to present an Acts 29 Encounters workshop on prayer. Dr. Terry Teykl will be the workshop leader. These workshops have done well for other folks, as this video shows.
Register by August 12. The workshop is on Saturday, August 23.
And yes, Monty, I promise to start walking the labyrinth at St. Mark’s (pictured in this post).
